WHY AM I HERE?
Updated: Nov 28, 2017
Today is the day my website went live and the support I have received so far has been pretty overwhelming and humbling.
The amount of questions I also received about this step and the reason behind it was also great and had to be addressed yet again in a more precise manner I believe.
Here's a photo of me, taken a few days ago, didn't brush my hair, no sun glasses to disguise my eyes and minimal make up. I feel like this is a pretty accurate close up picture that might go well with this blog post. If I'm wrong..... well, we'll live with it.
I always felt the need to have to define who I am, where I'm from and why I'm here. Ever since I moved to New Zealand as a kid, and then moving back to Egypt as a teenager I was always somehow perceived as an outsider but also usually treated as some kind of wonderful alien. Didn't mind it, didn't care as long as I did what I wanted.. which didn't happen too often but let's not get into that now.
I can try to simplify the answers to many of your questions into the following but I can't promise that it will make much sense, or that it would prevent further if not the same questions again.
I am an Egyptian who's also partly a Kiwi, a.k.a. New Zealander. I have lived most of my life in Christchurch, NZ and then the rest of it in Egypt, between the two legendary cities of Alexandria and Cairo.
A graduate from Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand and I managed to heroically graduate with a BA in English Studies and more importantly magically complete my double major in English Literature and Media Studies.
Am I married? Yes, indeed to the hottest man on the face of the earth and that's not my opinion as a wife but a fact stated by his biggest stalker. Will do a separate blog and maybe even vlog about Omar (Hubby) and me later on, I promise.
Why did I create this website? Simple, freedom of expression and obsession with expression.
I want to be able to share with everyone all that I want to share without the limitations of the Instagram video time limit, the Twitter character limit or Facebook's.... you know just Facebook being Facebook. I mean for god's sake what's 140 characters on Twitter going to help a writer like myself with when I want to brag about my new found fascination with Zara coats and Miu Miu heels? Or my need for all things vintage mixed with a little poetry and awkward remarks about politics and religion.
Therefore, I created this cozy place for me and those like me, or those who are not like me yet still care to know more about me and interact with me, in the world of online media; a sphere where I can share my short films, my collaborations with other artists and my love for writing, fashion and anything else I feel like without any pressure to be confined to any time limit or photo size.
That's pretty much it!
Until next time, live & love.
